Building Recognized by the Greater Minneapolis Building Owners and Managers Association

OAK BROOK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Inland American Office Management LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Inland American Real Estate Trust, Inc., announced today that its IDS Center was awarded with The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Award, presented by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Greater Minneapolis. The IDS Center took the top spot in the competition’s “Over 1 Million Square Feet” category for the third year in a row.

“The IDS Center is synonymous with some of the most distinguished and influential companies and leaders in Minneapolis,” said Jim Durda, vice president of Inland American Office Management LLC and general manager of the IDS Center. “Our receipt of this award strongly reinforces Inland’s top management abilities and the IDS Center’s reputation as an integral force in uniting a strong, vibrant community.”

The IDS Center is heralded as one of the finest skyscrapers in the country and has been labeled the centerpiece of the Minneapolis skyline. Containing over two million square feet, the IDS Center’s mixed-use, post-modern design is comprised of a 57-story office tower with an eight-story annex, two-story retail center and 19-story, four diamond Marquette Hotel – all surrounded by an enclosed eight-story indoor park, Crystal Court.

Business and commerce converge daily in the IDS Center, which boasts one of the world’s most extensive skyway systems and averages 50,000 pedestrians per day. With a current total of 128 tenants, the building was 95 percent leased as of December 2011. Committed to the environment through recycling and energy management initiatives, the IDS Center received three Green Globes certifications in 2011 and is Energy Star and BOMA 360 certified.

The TOBY Awards are the most prestigious of their kind in the commercial real estate industry, recognizing excellence in office building management in fourteen different categories based on size and facility type. Part of the BOMA International Regional Competition, the awards evaluate commercial properties in seven states, including Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and Wisconsin. As a regional winner, the IDS Center will automatically advance to BOMA’s International Competition.
